Tencent Music Entertainment Group, a leading online music and audio entertainment platform in China, recently announced the launch of its global original music competition called THE ONE on QQ Music. To make this competition even more exciting, global music media brand Billboard China will exclusively partner with Tencent Music Entertainment Group. The competition has already garnered the support of several renowned musicians, such as TIA RAY, Lenka, and Greyson Chance, who will serve as ambassadors for the competition and help discover new, talented singers, songwriters, and musicians from around the world. The main objective of THE ONE is to provide a platform for Chinese musicians to showcase their talent and original songs globally and promote the voice of China to the world.
TME has entered into a partnership that will allow them to leverage their advanced technology, in-depth understanding of the Chinese music industry, and extensive service systems to provide musicians with a comprehensive range of services. This will include assistance with demo recordings, song releases, global promotion, and personalized performances. By utilizing their global resources and adhering to international standards, TME aims to support Chinese artists in all areas and help them achieve success on a global scale.
The ONE competition will be divided into three main units: "Musical Work," "Fresh Face," and "Label." These units are designed to create a level playing field for competitors and allow for communication between different types of players with unique audition processes. The "Musical Work" unit will collect works from all over the world through TME's Qimingxing Music Assistant, while also inviting renowned Chinese musicians such as Bird Zhang, L.T., Ma SiWei, Mikey Jiao, and Chen Zhuoxuan to participate. The "Fresh Face" unit will collaborate with Tencent Musician Platform's New Forces project to identify exceptional emerging artists. Finally, the "Label" unit will curate original music from high-quality labels around the world, highlighting independent labels that prioritize music creation and diversity of styles. This will bring attention to "Chinese treasures" and introduce them to a global audience of music lovers.
The chosen winner of the competition will have their conceptual music collection produced and distributed worldwide via TME Music Cloud, which includes platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube. Additionally, the collection will receive significant promotional support and resources from TME's various platforms such as QQ Music, Kugou Music, Kuwo Music, and Tencent Musician Platform. It will also be featured on the prestigious Billboard China master song list Golden Ears. The winner will have the chance to participate in a collaborative performance with Billboard Live in Shanghai, representing China's original music talent to music lovers globally.
TME intends to reinforce its close cooperation with numerous music industry allies through this partnership, resulting in more exceptional original works and thrilling performances for music enthusiasts across the globe. TME is dedicated to exploring value patterns that will contribute to the advancement of Chinese music's international influence, while also encouraging and accompanying the emergence and growth of high-quality Chinese music compositions.
